Internal wedge fitting
The wedge assembly sits approximately 12mm below the top of the steerer and is tightened with an 8mm Allen key until secure. An O-ring holds the assembly together while it is loosened for installation.
Headset adjustment
An aluminium bolt passes through the top cap into the secured wedge to adjust the headset. Tighten it only enough to remove play from the headset bearings, then check that the steering remains smooth and free-running.
Fit and installation
The Hed Doctor is designed for a standard 1 1/8” threadless steerer and works with most aftermarket stems and headsets. Installation assumes the steerer is cut to the correct length and its sharp edges have been removed. Hope recommends using a qualified mechanic if you are unsure, and checking adjustment again after the first couple of rides.
